Service Recommendation using SLP

چکیده
As more services become available on networks, and as ad hoc network grows in popularity, the problem of service location will grow. Service location is the detection of a service through automated means, and the subsequent configuration of the service user to use that service. A number of service discovery protocols currently exist, but there is no known framework for the evaluation and comparison of these protocols based solely on their service discovery characteristics. This paper presents the Service Discovery Model, a generic meta-model describing all common tasks of service discovery. We then use the SDM illustrate the Service Location Protocol and extend it to support comparisons between services.

QoS-based Web Service Recommendation using Popular-dependent Collaborative Filtering
Since, most of the organizations present their services electronically, the number of functionally-equivalent web services is increasing as well as the number of users that employ those web services. Consequently, plenty of information is generated by the users and the web services that lead to the users be in trouble in finding their appropriate web services. Therefore, it is required to provi...
متن کاملRFC 3832 Remote Discovery in SLP via DNS SRV
Remote service discovery refers to discovering desired services in given remote (i.e., non-local) DNS domains. This document describes remote service discovery in the Service Location Protocol (SLP) via DNS SRV. It defines the DNS SRV Resource Records for SLP Directory Agent services, discusses various issues in using SLP and DNS SRV together for remote service discovery, and gives the steps fo...
متن کاملConversion of LDAP Schemas to and from SLP Templates
This document describes a procedure for mapping between Service Location Protocol (SLP) service advertisements and lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) descriptions of services. The document covers two aspects of the mapping. One aspect is mapping between SLP service type templates and LDAP directory schema. Because the SLP service type template grammar is relatively simple, mapping fro...
متن کاملDHCP Options for Service Location Protocol
The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol [2] provides a framework for passing configuration information to hosts on a TCP/IP network. Entities using the Service Location Protocol, Version 2 [3] and Service Location Protocol, Version 1 [4] need to obtain the address of Directory Agents and Scope configuration. The Service Location Protocol (SLP) provides a default configuration for Scopes and Dir...
متن کاملImproving SLP efficiency and extendability by using global attributes and preference filters
This paper presents two new mechanisms, global attributes and preference filters, that improve the efficiency and extendability of the Service Location Protocol (SLP). Global attributes describe common service properties, which can be used to perform queries across different service types, and can be standardized for service management. Preference filters facilitate processing of search results...
